Did you know most floor cleaners are not good for your floor? Most likely in your cabinet you have a cleaner that is damaging your hardwood floors or is altering the look when it was first installed or refinished. Even the most popular brands have chemicals in them that are bad for your floor. While on the topic, never trust Pinterest, vinegar is possibly the worst thing to you could use on your floor!
This homeowner called A-Max Hardwood and wanted her floor to have a natural look not the orange look that was clashing with her newly installed cabinets. The finish on her floor was flaking, scratching badly, dull in walking paths and looked super orange. Upon asking questions it was found out that she and her husband use Orange Glow weekly on their floor for over 10 years. The results were below:
As you can see the floor was very glossy, full of dirt, dull in walking paths and super orange looking. The reason the finish was full of dirt is because orange glow is an acrylic that is super thin. So, every week she used the Orange Glow it would pickup some of the hairs and dry hard with the hair in the thin acrylic, thus attaching them to the floor. The orange look is because orange glow’s polymers and chemicals naturally amber the floor and with 520 coats of orange glow it naturally made it very orange. With products like orange glow they last a maximum of a few weeks to a few months and need to be reapplied. The durability of these coatings are not very good.
A-Max Hardwood refinished this oak floor in 2 days with the following steps:
- 40 girt belt sand
- vacuum
- 60 grit edger
- vacuum

The outcome was this:
As you can see the final outcome was astonishing!
