A farmer in Emmett had had the same floor for over 15 years. The floor had many, many dog scratches and general wear and tear in the high traffic areas. The homeowners wanted the wood to be renewed. On our consultation/free estimate we mentioned that all the scratching, sun damage and wear/tear on the floor would come out. A major concern for the homeowners were his trophy heads he did not want to get dusty. We covered all the heads and taped them off with visqueen to ensure no dust got on them. The initial sanding took place on day 1 and the final coats went on the 2nd day. Below you can see the difference in the wood from before and after the refinish.
The steps of sanding used for this job:
- belt sand @ 40 grit
- edge
- vacuum the entire floor
- belt sand @ 60 grit
- edge
- vacuum the entire floor
- trio @ 60 grit
- edge @ 100 grit
- trio @ 100 grit
- vacuum entire floor
- water pop the floor
- apply Glitsa
- buff the floor
- apply Traffic 2x
After the 100 grit the floor was as smooth as could be. The trio does an amazing job at getting the floor fully flat and smooth. In hardwood there really is no better finishing sand than the trio. The Glitsa that was applied really brought out the grains of the wood, showcased the birdseye and other board affects associated with Maple hardwood flooring. When we removed the visqueen the trophy heads were dust free and in their original condition. We strive to make our customer’s concerns a priority and take extra care in ensuring their needs are met.
