This floor was in terrible shape. The wood finish had been completely worn off for years. The home owner said the wood had “grey” spots for over 6 years. The places that had finish had virtually none left and would have been gone in a few years tops. When doing the bid the homeowner wanted to add wood stairs (steps+risers). A-Max Hardwood made these prior to installation day and they turned out absolutely flawless. The homeowner thought the steps and risers were 1 piece of wood! The finish applied was a semi-gloss UV finish. UV is the hardest finish on the market right now and that is why this homeowner wanted to use it. The sanding process we used is below:
- 40 grit belt sand to flatten the warped boards
- vacuum
- 60 grit belt sand
- 80 grit edge
- vacuum
- 60 grit trio
- vacuum
- 100 grit trip
- 100 grit orbital
- vacuum
- bond coat
- buff
- body coat
- buff
- uv finish coat
