This apartment complex was in downtown Boise, Idaho and needed some refinish done to the wood floors. The floors had been in very bad shape for many years and it was time to have them fixed up to looking new again. The floor was a red oak and white oak mix, the mix of oaks is very normal in the downtown area and is a great look. The finish used on this house was SunFinish UV finish that is the most durable finish you can get on a floor today. The floor was super uneven and had to be sanded more than normal. You can read the grit progression below.
The floor was sanded using the following progression:
- 50 grit belt sander 15% cross grain
- vacuum
- 50 grit straight grain
- vacuum
- 80 grit belt sand
- 80 grit edger
- vacuum
- 100 grit trio
- 100 grit edger
- 3 finish coats
