Red Birch is a mesmerizing wood. The colors that this wood flooring has is absolutely fantastic. The only downfall of red birch and birch in general is how soft it is. Birch is a wood that you have to have up-most carefulness with. While it might not be the best for a family with kids and dogs, it is a floor that some households can fully enjoy without much worry.
This particular floor had been previously finished with oil/polyurethane and had oranged with time. The homeowners wanted the orang’y look gone and wanted the true beauty of the wood they remember that it had for the first few months of moving in. Oil Polyurethane has an inherent quality of turning floors a yellow or orange color after the sun (ultra-violet rays) hits the floor for a few months. Water-based products have no pigments, thus no color changing qualities.

The floor looked absolutely stunning. Red birch has a wonderful color palette that most other woods are unable to show. If you love color, red birch might be your wood – just be warned denting occurs.
