We were contacted by a potential client who wanted to transform his home. His issue was with how there was carpet in almost every walking surface, worst of all his stairs and hallways. The goal was to make it so these high trafficked areas got some much needed upgrading while keeping them looking nice for years to come. Wood is a great choice for areas with high traffic since wood holds up very nicely to wear of walking and usage. After our consultation it was agreed upon that hardwood was the sole choice for him and his wife. His entry already had red oak so we decided that is was a good idea to just add on to the wood already there. The current wood was Red Oak #1. His wife mentioned they wanted a dark wood, red oak is a great wood for staining. Due to the open grains it makes staining an easy option, some woods such as maple with a closed grain do not look the best stained.
*Note: The stairs we installed where made prior to installation making them seamless. This allows them to look as if they are 1 piece of wood! If you are getting stairs installed make sure they are made prior to the job and then cut to fit on the job. Also, if you are staining make sure that a painter is in place after the job. No matter how much taping off your paint will get some stain on the paint. A-Max sets up a painter for every stain job!
