Hardwood flooring seems to be at times a very small community. I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful hardwood flooring contractor in the San Juan Islands a few months back. I met rick when my plans to go to a conference were thwarted. Rick is a 70 year old guy who lives and breaths hardwood. I think everyone is envious of his hardwood knowledge and experiences – I know I am. He mills, installs and then finishes his floors. He literally controls all apsects of his flooring jobs. He has this job he was telling me about that was African Mahogany, Sapele hardwood flooring. This wood is very gorgeous, it is rift and quartered to make it even that much sweeter. He has to mill 8,000 sq. ft. of the Sapele!
Rick came into a bit of trouble with his health and needed help, luckily I was on his list of people to call and was able to go help him finish such a beautiful floor and installation. If you have never been, the San Juan Islands are something out of a movie or even better a fairy tale. These islands are simply majestic and beautiful.
