The homeowner wanted us to match his existing birch. The birch was one of the most knotty birches we have seen in the past 14 years, it is almost as if it was hand selected wood over weeks. However, it was probably just luck it looked like that. The unfortunate part was trying to match the existing kitchen wood since wood from all 3 distributors in the area did not have this knotty of wood. After getting 2 different shipments of wood we got a perfect match for the homeowner. He was absolutely happy with the match.
The floor was installed and then finished using the following process:
- 40 grit belt sand
- vacuum
- 60 grit belt sand
- 60 grit trio
- vacuum
- 80 grit edge
- 100 grit edge
- 100 grit trio
- vacuum

The flooring finish used was a UV product made by SunFinish. It is a very durable product. The benefits of uv are durability, clarity, non-yellowing, scratch resistant, low smell, green and can be walked on same day!
