This was the first house ever done in Boise, Idaho to get their floors refinished with UV coatings. It was my own home! UV coatings have many advantages that can be found here – All About UV Coatings. The wood in my house is around 6 years old according to the previous owner. It was never refinished after installation. It had a polyurethane finish on it and it had already deteriorated to bare wood in many places. You can see the pictures below:
The floor was pretty badly uneven in the hallways and kitchen. To correct this the trio was used extensively and made the floor as flat as possible. The outcome was a major difference that I can tell day to day now. Check the after pictures below:
Sanding Process:
- belt sand at 60 grit
- trio at 60 grit
- edge at 80 grit
- vacuum
- scrape corners
- trio at 100 grit
- orbital at 100 grit
- vacuum
- trio at 120 grit
- orbital at 120 grit
- vacuum
- Swiffer the floor
- waterpop the floor
- sealer applied
- buff the floor
- body builder applied
- buff the floor
- finish coat applied
The floor came out amazing. UV or Ultra Violet is truly the clearest hardwood floor finish you can get and looks amazing with this rift and quartered wood. The UV floor finish really shows off the grain of the wood and has incredible durability.
